I wasn’t going to jump into the fray over Barack Obama’s \u2018Lipstick on a pig” comment… Frankly I don’t think they were intentionally or maliciously directed at Governor Palin. In politics though it’s not just what you say it’s what people hear.<\/p>\n

I understand the point Senator Obama was trying to make, I disagree with it, but I don’t think he meant it as an insult to Governor Palin.<\/p>\n

Personally, I’m more bothered by the comments made by Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen on the house floor and those made by South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler.<\/p>\n

Congressman Cohen made the following remarks on the house floor:<\/p>\n

“I submit to you, Mr. Speaker, that the parties have differences. But if you want change, you want the Democratic Party. Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Um, Congressman you might want to reread your bible, admittedly I’m a little fuzzy on this, but I seem to recall that it was the community organizers who worked up the crowd that crucified Christ.<\/p>\n

I’m at as loss for what to say about this… From the Politico<\/a>:<\/p>\n

South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate “whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”<\/p>\n

Palin is an opponent of abortion rights and gave birth to her fifth child, Trig,\u00a0earlier this year after finding out during her pregnancy that the baby had Down syndrome.<\/p>\n

Fowler told my colleague Alex Burns in an interview\u00a0that the selection of an opponent of abortion rights would not boost McCain among many women.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Call me crazy but personally, I think dismissing Governor Palin\u2019s achievements this way is just a bit sexist.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
