{"id":1716,"date":"2009-03-19T19:35:09","date_gmt":"2009-03-19T23:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasetaro.com\/blog\/?p=1716"},"modified":"2009-06-25T11:07:16","modified_gmt":"2009-06-25T15:07:16","slug":"obama-administration-backtracks-on-veterans-insurance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasetaro.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/19\/obama-administration-backtracks-on-veterans-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Administration Backtracks On Veterans&#8217; Insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, well it looks like the Obama Administration is backing away from plans to to charge veterans&#8217; private health insurance for the treatment of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0309\/20190.html\" target=\"_blank\">service related injuries<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>President Barack Obama reversed course Wednesday on a highly charged proposal to have private insurance companies, instead of the Veterans Affairs Department, pay for veterans&#8217; service-related injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed policy shift was aimed at recouping $540 million, but it risked souring goodwill of veterans, an enormous political constituency.
