Jim DeMint (R-SC) plans on forcing a vote on a bill that wuold block the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine next week. The bill which is co-sponspored by Sen. John Thune (R-SD), and 27 others and will be offered as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/insidecover\/demint_fairness_doctrine\/2009\/02\/19\/183535.html\" target=\"_blank\">Newsmax.com<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sen. Jim DeMint announced that he will force a vote next week on a bill that prevents the Federal Communications Commission from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine.<\/p>\n<p>The South Carolina Republican\u2019s bill, the Broadcaster Freedom Act, is cosponsored by John Thune, R-S.D., and 27 others and will be offered as an amendment to the D.C. Voting Rights bill.<\/p>\n<p>President Barack Obama is opposed to any move to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, spokesman Ben LaBolt said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>But as Sen. DeMint notes in a statement, some Democrats in Congress have indicated that they would support a reinstatement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>DeMint&#8217;s amendment will undoubtedly be voted down but forcing the Democrats to vote on it is smart politics, especially on the heels of the Pres.
